Grills are a popular product in the world today, but that doesn’t mean they’re healthy for your smile. If you have chosen to decorate your chompers with grills, it’s extremely important to take great care of your teeth and gums—even more than you did before you had the grills. So, in order to keep your smile in tip-top shape, our James A. Johnson, DDS team recommends doing the following things:

Keep up on oral hygiene

Oral hygiene is extremely important when you have grills, especially because food tends to gather between the grills and the teeth. So, please remember to brush your teeth twice a day for two minutes each time and floss your smile at least once a day. It’s also beneficial to rinse your mouth daily with antibacterial mouthwash.

Limit the wear time

If you have removable grills, it’s best to limit the wear time. Try to only wear them on special occasions and please remember to remove them right before you eat—then that way you’ll have less of a chance of getting food stuck between the product and teeth.

Clean the product

Clean the grills at least once a day with the right cleaning solution. Do not use jewelry cleaner or another toxic solution to clean the grills.
